StreetSharksisanAmericananimatedtelevisionseriesaboutcrime-fightinghalf-man/half-sharkssimilartotheTeenageMutantNinjaTurtles.ItwasproducedbyDICEntertainmentfrom1994to1995.Laterin1996theStreetSharksteamedupwiththeDinoVengers(anearlyandvastlydifferent-in-originincarnationoftheExtremeDinosaurs)andtheshowbecameStreetSharksandtheDinoVengers.Likeanumberofchildren'scartoons,itwascreatedtopromoteanexistingMatteltoylineofthesamename[1],createdbytoymavenDavidSiegelandwriter/creativedirector,JoeGallianiofMr.Joe'sReallyBigProductions[2]. Inthefirstepisode,auniversityprofessornamedDr.Paradigmtestedhisgene-manipulationtechniquesonamarlinandalobster.Dr.Bolton,afellowprofessor,attemptedtodestroyParadigm'sresearch,andwastransformedintoaninhumanmonstrositybytheevilscientistbeforeescaping.ParadigmlaterkidnappedBolton'sfoursons—John,Bobby,Coop,andClint—totransformthemintosharks.Assoonastheytransformed,thefourbrothersateahotdogstand,andfledfromthepolicebydivingintoalakeandburrowingtheirwayintothecitybyeatingthedirt.ThebrothersplannedtocaptureParadigmsothattheycouldforcehimtoreturnthemtotheirhumanselvesandexposeParadigm'sgeneticexperiments. Insubsequentepisodes,ParadigmbegantoconvincetheresidentsofFissionCitythattheStreetSharks(astheybecameknown)werevicious,deadlykillerswhoweremutatedbytheirfather,Dr.Bolton.ThebrothersteamedupeveryepisodetostopParadigmandhisdeadlySeaviatesfromtransformingthecitizensofFissionCityintomutantswithnofreewill. Oneofthecharacters'favoritecatchphraseswas"Jawsome",andtheirfavoritefoodconsistsofhamburgersandfrenchfries(althoughthey'recapableofeatingjustaboutanything-evenifit'snotfood).Thebrothershavealsoexpressedanobviousandveryvocaldislikeforpizza,anindirectacknowledgementtowardtheNinjaTurtles,whoseimageiswell-knownforbeingbuiltaroundpizza.
